Assisted Living FAQs

Our assisted living lifestyle provides the perfect blend of support and independence. Our goal is to promote freedom and wellness for our residents, and assisted living helps us achieve this thanks to our considerate staff, beautiful community designs, and comprehensive care services.

Please visit our Assisted Living page for more information.

What is the difference between assisted living & skilled nursing?

Skilled nursing, sometimes referred to as a “nursing home,” is a form of short-term rehab and post-hospitalization that provides a high level of clinical care.

Assisted living, on the other hand, is focused on helping residents 62 and older enjoy an enhanced quality of life while enjoying support for all of their activities of daily living. These communities provide staff and amenities to help make life easier and more comfortable for residents.

Our LifeWell residents get the assistance they need for activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and grooming, dining, ambulation, and medication management.

What are care levels? How are they determined?

Care levels refer to how much support a resident needs to live a comfortable, engaging, and prosperous life.

We determine a resident’s care level by looking at how much assistance the resident needs throughout the day, whether that’s cleaning, walking, bathing, grooming, or eating. From here, we can determine their care level with the help of our LifeWell healthcare team and our state-regulated assessment form.

We can even adjust the resident’s care level as their needs change, courtesy of regular health assessments and check-ups.

LifeWell communities are not licensed as nursing homes—we are under the license through the state as an assisted living community.
However, LifeWell Senior Living has at least one full-time licensed nurse on-site for clinical concerns, 24/7.

Memory Care FAQs

Memory care provides a life full of comfort, ease, and security for residents who live with cognitive concerns like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other forms of dementia.

These lifestyles are supported by a highly-trained team of memory care professionals, and you can learn more about the services we provide on our Memory Care page.

How do I know when my loved one is ready/needs memory care?

It can be difficult to know when a loved one might be ready for memory care, but sometimes, a gut instinct is a great indicator of when to take the next step forward.

In other cases, certain physical and lifestyle signs could tell you it might be time to consider memory care, like:

  • No longer being safe at home
  • Caregiver stress is becoming overwhelming
  • Changes in behavior
  • Wandering and disorientation
  • Isolation
  • Unexplained physical changes
  • Relationship dynamic changes with your loved one

Is LifeWell Senior Living properly equipped to handle those with cognitive concerns?

Absolutely.

From the time of hire, we educate all LifeWell team members and leaders on the behaviors and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

From preparing our dining team with our community’s proper dietary needs to ensuring lifestyle activities maximize social and cognitive stimulation, our mission is to maintain our residents’ dignity and independence throughout their life.

Respite Care FAQs

Respite care is the perfect option for people looking for short-term care while they recover from surgery or injury, or while their primary caregiver takes a break to rest and recharge.

Respite care also provides the perfect opportunity to try out our communities before deciding to move in. For more information, please visit our Respite Care page today!

Are there restrictions on respite care residents?

Nope!

Respite care residents are free to enjoy their community’s full range of services and amenities. Whether that’s enjoying a delicious, chef-prepared meal or taking part in our many events and activities, there is simply no limit to how our residents can enjoy their day.

How long does respite care last?

We want to give every resident the opportunity to fully enjoy our services. Because of this, we determine a resident’s time with us on a case-by-case basis.
